Ametherm Celebrates 20 Years of Reliable Circuit Protection and High-Accuracy Temperature Measurement
CARSON CITY, Nev. — Aug. 25, 2014 — Ametherm today announced that the company is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Founded in 1994 by Eric Rauch and Mehdi Samii to provide reliable circuit protection and high-accuracy temperature measurement, over the last 20 years Ametherm has become known for producing some of the highest rated circuit protection thermistors in the industry and providing the widest range of inrush current protection available.
For 20 years, Ametherm has manufactured all of its products in Carson City, Nevada. Here, the company has introduced the industry to a variety of inrush current limiters and sensing thermistors for a wide range of applications, including AC motors, power supplies, motor drives, audio amplifiers, battery chargers, fan motor controls, air sensors, HVAC systems, and more. Ametherm’s innovations include devices such as the industry’s first inrush current limiting NTC thermistors to be certified to UL 1434 for single- and three-phase input voltages up to 480 VAC.
In 2013, Ametherm acquired the SURGE-GARD™ line of inrush current limiting thermistors from Measurement Specialties Inc. (formerly RTI Electronics), in addition to a wide range of NTC chip, surface-mount, and disc thermistors. Following the acquisition Ametherm doubled the size of its manufacturing plant with the purchase of a new 36,000-square-foot facility, and has added a number of key distributors to its worldwide network to accommodate the company’s continuing growth.
“It’s been an amazing 20 years and all of us at Ametherm have a lot to celebrate,” said Eric Rauch, president and CEO of Ametherm. “While many of our competitors have moved their operations offshore, we still manufacture all of our products in the U.S.A and have been very successful in an industry dominated by Asia-sourced components. We are very proud of that fact and to call Carson City our home. Furthermore, our acquisition of the SURGE-GARD line has taken Ametherm to an entirely new level and positioned us for amazing growth. As we look toward the future, we will build on our tremendous momentum to take a more active role in the sensor market and introduce new inrush current limiters with ratings over 50 A.”
“A lot has changed in the industry since Eric and I left RTI Electronics to start Ametherm,” said Mehdi Samii, vice president of engineering at Ametherm. “The introduction of the Internet has completely changed the way we do business and communication with customers has become simple and instantaneous. We’ve also seen most of our customers relocate their manufacturing offshore. Ametherm’s unmatched quality, innovation, and customer support, however, have remained the same. This is due to the exceptional knowledge and dedication of our employees. They are our most valuable and valued asset and we’re looking forward to more success together over the next twenty years.”
