Ametherm to Exhibit Leading Inrush Current Limiters and NTC Sensing Thermistors at EDS 2015
Components on Display to Include SL10 10003 Thermistor, High-Dielectric PANR Series, SURGE-GARD™ Line, and NTC Disc Thermistors
CARSON CITY, Nev. — May 8, 2015 — Ametherm today announced its technology lineup for EDS 2015, taking place May 12-15 at The Mirage in Las Vegas. In suite A47, the company will highlight its SL10 10003 thermistor and SURGE-GARD™ line of inrush current limiters for reliable circuit protection, while its high-dielectric PANR series of NTC thermistor probe assemblies and NTC disc thermistors will be on display for high-accuracy temperature measurement.
EDS is the premier annual event for the main players in the international electronics industry. Each year, the manufacturers of electronic components, instruments, and accessories — as well as distributors and manufacturer’s representatives — come together at the show to meet, make contacts, and build their business.
“Each year, EDS provides us with a fantastic opportunity to touch base with our existing partners and explore new sales channels for our products throughout the United States,” said Medhi Samii, vice president of engineering at Ametherm. “This year, we look forward to showing them a variety of solutions that deliver high-accuracy temperature measurement and unmatched inrush current protection for a wide range of applications.”
Ametherm’s new SL10 10003 thermistor is the industry’s first to offer a 277 V rating optimized for applications including LED lighting and ballasts, power factor correction (PFC) circuits, and inrush current control in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with ratings under 500 W. Featuring the highest energy, continuous current, and ambient temperature ratings for any device in its size and class, the SL10 10003 provides a more compact alternative to larger NTC devices or the more expensive combination of a power resistor, relay, and timer or implementation of the same functionality with active circuits.
In addition, Ametherm will be highlighting SURGE-GARD devices that can withstand high steady-state currents from 2 A to 30 A and up to 300 J of input energy. Constructed of specially formulated metal oxide ceramic materials, the thermistors are optimized for a wide variety of applications that require inrush current limiting to reduce circuit failure — including switching power supplies, AC motors, motor drives, audio amplifiers, and battery chargers. Featured devices offer resistance at 25 °C from 0.5 Ω to 120 Ω, tolerances down to ±15 %, and diameters from 10 mm to 31 mm.
For temperature measurement in automotive applications, Ametherm’s high-dielectric PANR series of NTC thermistor probe assemblies with ring lug terminals offers up to 4 KV of isolation voltage. Providing a high-stability replacement for PT100 thermocouples, the completely customizable devices experience minimal drift from their initial electrical values. The assemblies feature resistance at 25 °C from 100 Ω to 100,000 Ω, beta from 3,500 K to 4,500 K, a dissipation constant of 3 mW/°C, a thermal time constant of 40.0 s, and max. power of 125 mW.
NTC disc thermistors on display at EDS 2015 will include devices with diameters from 2.54 mm to 12.7 mm, dissipation constants from 3 mw/°C to 17 mw/°C, and thermal time constants down to 6 s. Offering high-temperature operation to +150 °C and resistance at 25 °C from 4 Ω to 100,000 Ω, the devices provide high stability and maximum sensitivity for temperature measurement, compensation, and control in fan motor controls, fluid levels, and temperature sensors in a wide range of end products.
