Ametherm to Exhibit SURGE-GARD™ Inrush Current Limiters and NTC Disc Thermistors at EDS 2014
CARSON CITY, Nev. — April 9, 2014 — Ametherm today announced that the company will be showcasing selections from its RTI Electronics SURGE-GARD™ line of inrush current limiters and NTC disc thermistors for high-accuracy temperature measurement — both recently acquired from Measurement Specialties — at EDS 2014, taking place May 5-8 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
EDS is the premier annual event for the main players in the international electronics industry. Each year, the manufacturers of electronic components, instruments, and accessories — as well as distributors and manufacturers’ representatives — come together at the show to meet, make contacts, and build their business.
“EDS is a very important event for Ametherm, and an experience that we look forward to participating in each year,” said Medhi Samii, vice president of engineering at Ametherm. “Not only does the show allow us to gain greater industry exposure for products such as our SURGE-GARD line, but it also provides us with the perfect opportunity to reconnect with our existing channel partners and establish new relationships.”
In booth 8313, Ametherm will be highlighting SURGE-GARD devices that can withstand high steady-state currents from 1.75 A to 50 A and up to 300 J of input energy. Constructed of specially formulated metal oxide ceramic materials, the thermistors are optimized for a wide variety of applications that require inrush current limiting to reduce circuit failure — including switching power supplies, AC motors, motor drives, audio amplifiers, and battery chargers. Featured devices offer resistance at 25 °C from 0.4 Ω to 220 Ω, tolerances down to ±15 %, and diameters from 10 mm to 32 mm.
NTC disc thermistors on display at EDS 2014 will include devices with diameters from 2.54 mm to 10.2 mm, dissipation constant from 3 mw/°C to 9 mw/°C, and thermal time constant down to 10 s. Offering high-temperature operation to +150 °C and resistance at 25 °C from 4 Ω to 100,000 Ω, the devices provide high stability and maximum sensitivity for temperature measurement, compensation, and control in fan motor controls, fluid level sensors, and temperature sensors in a wide range of end products.
